Lombardy Cottage, 162 Shepherds Flat Road, is on a quiet country lane 6km from the historic mining town of St Bathans in Central Otago’s Manuherikia Valley. It is an easy two-hour drive from either Queenstown or Dunedin. This original stone cottage, built in the 1860s for the manager of local Vinegar Hill goldmine, is fully renovated with under-floor heating throughout, two double bedrooms with one king and one queen bed, two bathrooms, a book-lined study with an open fire, a kitchen-sitting room with coal range and oil-fired heater, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities and a large garage.

Sweeping lawns extend to a trout and gold-bearing creek with views to the Hawkdun Range in the east, Mt St Bathans in the north and the Dunstan Mountains in the west. Mature trees, including Lombardy poplars, are a feature of the tranquil grounds. The cottage comes with linen, kayaks, mountain bikes, high-speed internet, gas barbecue and traditional Weber kettle outdoor cooking facilities, an outdoor hot tub, a stocked woodshed and an in-season vegetable garden.
